Yagi design software

Postby M6MKL on Sun Mar 07, 2010 7:11 pm

I fancy having a go at a DIY Yagi for 2m and/or 70cm - 3 or 4 elements will do for starters.
Google finds a lot of Yagi design software but a lot of it is only for running on DOS or old windows versions.
Does anyone have a recommendation for up to date design software (or just a design) based on experience ?

I could run Linux through VirtualBox if you think that's where the best stuff is.

Why use software?

There is design data for Yagis, LPDA's etc, in many of the standard radio handbooks, and a lot of ready-made DIY plans too.

There is tons of software for windows without resorting to Linux...

Like here for example: http://www.raibeam.com/wa7rai.html

or here

Cheers for the comments so far folks.
Antennas is such a big topic to research.
I already like the idea of experimenting with a Moxon or "Hentenna" which look DIY-able.
