DMR to the North of MK

Postby M0GXZ on Fri Aug 11, 2017 10:40 am

To the north of MK we have 4 DMR repeaters in
Northampton, Kettering, Rugby & Leicester
that are all "Licensed" but not yet "Operational"
Does anyone know what progress is being made on this front ?

Looks like this is going to be Phoenix network and not Brandmeister after all.
I think that will make it a bit simpler for people to get started since we are more likely to be familiar with Phoenix in this area.
I’ll try and get a 380 code plug ready that includes GB7MO (Roade) for the next club night so we can get everyone up to date.
And add MB7AAG to the analogue side of the code-plug.

GB7MO is now going to be sited to the north of Northampton so I’m less excited about it being good for people in Towcester and the north side of MK now.
We’ll just have to see how the coverage works out.

Shame on all counts. Guess it was a Northampton repeater, but still wish it didn't have to move so far north.

Phoenix makes sense, but also kind of a shame - less interesting range of talk groups- kinda dead most the time plus it doesn't bring anything new.

Looks like i'll stick with GB7AV / GB7TU

Just been checking in on GB7MO - looks like they are having a few technical issues, but nothing major - Also the NoV is still with the ETCC - so a few weeks off at least.

I have out of interest created a coverage map for it. It assumes the antenna will be at 5m above ground height, transmitting to a mobile antenna 2m above the ground - and that the repeater will output 15W.

also sounds like DMR for Rugby GB7ME is making progress.
Blimey, code-plugs need updating regularly, there seems to be a new talkgroup as well - 2352
which seems to be a better link to Wires-x than 2351 was/is.
