I never knew that Microsoft would provide extended updates for the skin disease operating system XP for money.

I wonder how much of the equipment / software might work under Linux or possibly via WINE. I have a really old Netgear Wireless LAN PCI NIC on my main homebuilt i5 Linux box;

Qualcomm Atheros AR5212/5213/2414 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)

When my Ethernet over power adaptors began to play up I bought it for 99p plus £4 postage off eBay - brand new boxed. My PC is dual boot Linux Mint 17.3 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit. It came with drivers which supported Windows 98 through to Windows XP.

I could not find any drivers for it which supported anything later than Windows XP. On Linux (an up to date Linux distro) it worked out the box as soon as I installed in in a spare PCI slot. However, having looked online for a driver I still can not get it to work on Windows 7. :brickwall:
