Anyone else in town got UHF DMR ?
Would be interesting to try a simplex contact.
(Especially since we don't actually have a DMR repeater,
although I seem to be reaching the Aylesbury and Amersham repeaters ok)

Malcolm, a follow up from last week, I was at Ashridge on Sunday and could connect easily to Amersham and Aylesbury. However, that codeplug wasn't being very helpful.

I'm going to try another :)

Hope to see you Saturday.

I've already made changes to my code plug,
and can think of some more things to improve on.

I'll mail you a copy after a bit more tweaking.

Malcolm

I have 70cm (and 2m) DMR if you want to try a simplex QSO.

Thanks Bob,
If you read this in time,
how about 19:30 tonight (Sunday) on the 70cms DMR calling channel ?

sorry Bob, that didn't go very well.
I was about 8 mins late after frantically trying to re-program the MD-380 settings.
There seems to be a bug in the programming software whereby if you delete a contact it renumbers the contacts but doesn't update the links between the channels and the contacts, so they go out of step and you end up using the wrong Talkgroup.
(Stu, you'll need yet another version of the file to fix the Talkgroup on Simplex)

Called a few times but nothing seemed to be happening,
I'll keep working on the programming with Stu and see if we can get simplex working next club night.

Malcolm

Sorry to hear you are having problems. The contacts bug in the programming software is very annoying, I got caught out by it when I first edited my code plug file.

I was listening from 19.30 until about 20.10. I called you a few times on DH3, but guess you did'nt hear me.

I can email you a copy of my code plug if you are interested. It's not perfect, but works for the Phoenix repeaters (at least in the south of England) and includes FM simplex/repeaters as well as DMR simplex channels.

My email can be found on QRZ.

Let me know if you want to try another sked.

got a bit distracted with yet more software updates,
this time using a Raspberry Pi to fetch and upload updates.
the details are here
https://github.com/wh6av/md380-radio/bl ... /README.md

It's all good stuff though, it now scrolls long Zone / Channel names and provides the display of Callsign, Name & location, and has a last-heard listing.

It's mentioned in World of VHF in the March PW.

Anyway Stu & I have identified the mistake in my "code-plug" so should be ready to try a Simplex Sked soon.
